The ISTD have worked alongside experts in child development, physiotherapy and psychology to create a syllabus, specifically designed to teach technique appropriate for age or ability, which will enable children to learn how to use their body as they grow with awareness for the prevention of injuries both now and in the future, whilst also encouraging and allowing performance, musicality and artistry to develop within each child.
The ISTD are regularly monitored and audited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), to ensure their standards are maintained. Making ISTD qualifications comparable to those children study at school within the National Qualifications framework.
ISTD teachers are recognised by the government as being qualified to teach dance to children in accordance with age and ability, whilst also supporting and nurturing their psychological and emotional well being. They are regulated along with the syllabus, and undergo regular CPD training and syllabus updates.
ISTD examinations are recognised worldwide and by all of the top dance colleges as it ensures the correct training for dance has been achieved.
Examinations are held throughout the year in Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre Dance and Tap Dance. When Miss Louise feels a child is ready to be entered into an examination she will inform the parent/guardian.
