Competitions

These are for any child of any age or ability and they can do wonders for confidence and performance.

Once a child has been attending classes for at least 6 months, with Miss Louise's approval they can start training for competitions. 

We take part in around 5 or 6 competitions a year and during a competition children are entered into a group of similar aged children who each perform a solo in the same dance style.  These are: BALLET, TAP, MODERN, CHARACTER, SONG AND DANCE, MUSICAL COMEDY, LYRICAL AND ACRO.

Each genre of dance is performed in a seperate section.  When everyone in the section has performed the judge then picks their winners.

A child will always receive a medal or plaque for first, second and third place, usually fourth too.

Not all children will win, particularly in the first few attempts, but practice and experience will help and if they do win then there is usually a trophy destined for your mantelpiece.
